The Newbury Hotel

The Newbury art collection has been carefully curated with contemporary artists who are shaping the art world with new technology and innovative techniques that have captured the eyes of the art world. Selected artists are diverse, including emerging and mid-career artists — painters, sculptors, photographers represented in museum collections including the ICA and the MFA in Boston. They are recipients of important arts fellowships, awards and media acclaim. Many have a connection to Boston and New England and they have used their craft to create a meaningful dialogue between viewer and object.

Our artists are experts in their studio practices and masters of the techniques and styles for which they are well known, often teaching, writing, curating, and mentoring others in addition to making their own artworks. The paintings, photographs, sculptures, and prints on view are masterfully executed formal responses to the natural and architectural circumstances that are the foundation of Boston’s history and to the new chapter that is The Newbury.

This project is among the first by the newly formed C + K Art Advisory, a partnership for curating, consulting, and a full site of related services from Mike Carroll and Lynne Kortenhaus.
